Our Doctors

Christopher J. Vinton, M.D.

Dr. Vinton received his undergraduate degree in Biology in 1996, graduating Magna Cum Laude, from The College of the Holy Cross.  In 2000, Dr. Vinton earned his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School, with Honors. Then, he returned to Worcester for his Orthopedic Residency at UMass Memorial Medical Center. Finally, he completed the Harvard Medical School Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston before returning to join Worcester Country Orthopedics in 2007.  In the same year, Dr. Vinton was thrilled to become a part of Worcester County Orthopedic’s long tradition of caring for the student-athletes at the College of the Holy Cross.

In 2012, Dr. Vinton was named Chief of Orthopedics at St. Vincent Hospital. Dr. Vinton enjoys providing the most medically advanced surgical techniques and procedures to all of his patients.  Dr. Vinton was the first orthopedic surgeon in Central Massachusetts to perform the minimally invasive (MIS) Anterior Approach Total Hip Replacement and has since successfully performed hundreds of these procedures.    He also enjoys the sports medicine component of his practice and applies the same minimally invasive techniques to the care of those patients. Dr. Vinton understands his patients’ desire, regardless of their age, to get back in the game, back on the golf course or back to whatever interests them, pain-free.

While attending Holy Cross, Dr. Vinton played football for the Crusaders, so he also has first hand knowledge of the unique issues facing athletes of all ages and their families.  In more recent years, Dr. Vinton has traded his football cleats for running sneakers and has become an avid runner.   He runs two or three half marathons a year as well as the 30K Around the Bay in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, every spring. Dr. Vinton enjoys golfing, skiing and sitting on the sidelines of various fields all across Massachusetts with his wife, Amanda, watching their two children, Molly and Mack, compete in their own athletic endeavors.
